How do I change a player's gamemode on Minecraft?

In Minecraft, changing a player's game mode is a straightforward process, and it can be done using commands. The command you'll use depends on whether you want to change the game mode for yourself or for another player.

For Yourself (as a Player):


Open the Chat:

On PC: Press the "T" key to open the chat.

On Console (e.g., Xbox, PlayStation): Open the chat or command interface according to your platform.

Enter the Command:

To switch to Creative mode:

/gamemode creative or /gamemode c

To switch to Survival mode:

/gamemode survival or /gamemode s

To switch to Adventure mode:

/gamemode adventure or /gamemode a

To switch to Spectator mode: /gamemode spectator or /gamemode sp

Press Enter:

After entering the command, press Enter to execute it.

For Another Player (as an Operator or in Creative Mode):


Open the Chat:

Enter the Command:

Use the following command structure:

/gamemode <mode> <player>

Replace <mode> with the desired game mode (creative, survival, adventure, or spectator), and <player> with the player's Minecraft username.

For example, to change another player named "PlayerName" to Creative mode:

/gamemode creative PlayerName

Press Enter:

Keep in mind:

You need to have the necessary permissions to change the game mode of another player. If you are the server owner or an operator (admin), you should have the required permissions.
If you are not an operator or in Creative mode, you can only change your own game mode.
